Students participate in Kenya science and engineering Fair, environmental conservation projects, STEM challenges, and innovation exhibitions that enhance their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Despite challenges such as limited laboratory resources and increasing enrolment, the department remains focused on strengthening practical learning, expanding STEM opportunities, integrating digital technologies, and improving overall academic performance. Welcome to the Humanities Department at st Alphonsa kisau girl's senior school. The department comprises of three key subjects that play a very crucial role in shaping students into informed, _value_driven citizens by exploring society , culture and ethics: Christian Religious Education (CRE), History and Government, Geography, CRE is a compulsory subject for all students under the 8-4-4 curriculum aimed at instilling good morals and life skills to learners hence prepare them for contemporary society. Both Geography and History & Government are elective subjects in both curriculums. The Department boasts of a very dedicated team of over 20 TSC registered and highly qualified teachers who are very passionate about their subjects. This great team has fostered a spirit of team work and diligence leading to posting of impressive performance in the past KCSE exams over the years. The Good performance has significantly boosted KCSE results in the school. Under The Competency Based Education (CBE), the department forms the Core component of the Social Sciences Pathway Whereby Community Service Learning(CSL) is offered to all learners in the three pathways by the Humanities Department. We have continuously exposed learners to various exams, Academic trips, symposiums,contests and field excursions to enhance learners understanding. Teachers are also exposed to workshops and seminars to ensure they stay updated on curriculum developments and the changing trends in assessments. We are dedicated to helping our learners excel in the Humanities Subjects while fostering Love to transform learning and achieve personal growth.

We offer a diverse, engaging and comprehensive curriculum tailored to meet the needs of learners The subjects offered include English Language and Literature which are designed to develop advanced reading comprehension, analytical writing and eloquent speech. Kiswahili which focuses on developing Linguistic proficiency, fluency and a deep appreciation of East African literature and culture. Foreign languages such as French, German and Mandarin which expose students to global cultures and international career opportunities. Our department is made up of a dedicated team of teachers who are passionate about their respective disciplines. The Technical and Applied Department plays a key role in nurturing learners' practical skills, innovation, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. The department supports the development of competencies required for academic excellence, career growth, and real-life application. The department offers subjects such as: Computer Studies, Agriculture, Business Studies, Home Science, Media Technology, Electricity, and French. The department records good academic results both in internal and National exam(kcse). Learners demonstrate commitment through participation in lessons, practical activities, projects, assignments, and continuous assessments. Teachers use learner-centred approaches, practical demonstrations, and digital resources to enhance understanding. The Department has continued to make a significant contribution to the overall growth and development of learners. The guidance and counseling department is committed to supporting the holistic development of learners by addressing their academic, social, emotional and career needs. The department provides a safe and confidential environment where students can seek guidance on personal challenges, relationships, study skills, discipline and future career pathways. Through individual and group counseling sessions, mentorship programmes, motivational talks and career guidance activities, the department has helped the learners develop self-awareness, resilience and positive decision-making skills. It has also played a key role in promoting mental wellness, improving discipline, enhancing academic performance and helping learners cope with challenges associated with adolescence and school life. Working closely with parents, teachers and other stakeholders, the department continues to nurture responsible, confident and well-rounded learners who are prepared to succeed both in school and beyond.
The Games Department is responsible for promoting sports, physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and talent development among learners. During the school term, the department organises and supervises various sporting activities including football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, netball, Handball ,Hockey, Rugby and racquets games. Learners participates actively in training sessions and competitions at school and inter-school levels. The department identifies and nurture students with sporting talents while encouraging all learners to maintain a healthy lifestyle through physical activities.
The Mathematics Department develops analytical thinking and problem-solving through interactive lessons, regular assessment and a culture of practice. It builds the confidence and numeracy that underpin success across every other subject.
The Media Technology, Film and Theatre Department develops creativity and confidence through drama, film and the performing arts. Our students have carried these talents all the way to the National drama festivals.
